Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

Oliberte is company that is currently doing well and is owned and created by Tal Dehtiar." This footwear company strives to develop a thriving middle class in Africa by creating fair-wage, sustainable jobs in the heart of Ethiopia--and business is good.” (Inc.com)  Oliberte is currently known as one of the “100 Most Creative People in Business.” This company has given potential for women in Africa, “creating a safe environment for them to develop valuable skills for the workforce.” (Fair Trade USA) This company helps to create several jobs for people who are skilled artisans currently in Africa. The materials used to create these shoes come from other locations within Africa. “Becoming the world's first Fair Trade Certified footwear manufacturing factory was a rigorous process, but we did it because we believe this partnership will make us better as a company and employer,” (Tal Dehtiar) Fair Trade USA is a nonprofit organization, this certifier makes sure that any transactions within companies and their suppliers give their farmers and workers fair pay. Oliberte helps support all workers’ rights who currently live in Africa. “This means making premium quality products with a lifetime warranty, and it means treating every employee, everywhere in the world, with respect.” (Oliberte) First Oliberte started off being a small company of footwear and partnered with suppliers and factories based in Africa. From that start they have opened up their own factory. “we work to create fair jobs and lead the charge for workers’ rights, supporting this effort.” (Oliberte)
